The Toyota LandCruiser Prado 250 Series introduces a new generation of drivetrain technology to Toyota’s proven 1GD-FTV 2.8-litre diesel platform. For the first time, the Prado combines the 1GD engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid (MHEV) system and a new 8-speed automatic transmission, delivering improved refinement, emissions compliance, and efficiency from factory.

While the hardware package is strong, the factory ECU and TCU calibrations remain highly conservative, particularly in torque delivery, transmission strategy, and hybrid torque blending. With correct ECU and TCU calibration, the Prado 250 responds extremely well to tuning — especially for touring, towing, and real-world drivability.

The factory ECU calibration on the 1GD-FTV 2.8L Prado is highly conservative, particularly in torque delivery and throttle response. Our Toyota Prado 250 Series TCU Tuning totally redefines the Aisin 8-speed transmission, addressing all of these issues by custom tuning the calibration to provide smoother, more responsive gear changes, complementing the enhanced performance of a professionally tuned engine. Paticulalry prevelent is the aggrivating 2-3-3-4 upshift which use a different pedal scaling to define the upshift condition and torque reduction during the shift. Pairing transmission tuning with our ECU remap is not mandatory, however, is extremely popular especially when towing. For best results, ECU and TCU tuning should be performed together.

Exhaust Upgrade

The factory exhaust system is a very restrictive, press bent, mass-prodiced unit, and increases backpressure once torque is increased. A 2.75" DPF-back option is ideal to improve exhaust flow without sacrifcing mid-range torque on DPF-equipped cars, providing more efficient power delivery. 3" options are availble for nations where DPF systems are not required by law (South Afric, UAE, South America) with full systems from turbo-back for non-DPF models. Overall, an exhaust upgrade on the Toyota Hilux N80 from 2021-2025 improves response, sound, and thermal control.
