Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series (LC300 / FJA300 / F33A-FTV) 2022-2026
Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series Tuning (LC300 / FJA300 / F33A-FTV)
Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series
The Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series (LC300) represents a major shift in Toyota’s flagship 4WD platform, introducing the F33A-FTV 3.3-litre twin-turbo sequential V6 Diesel Engine, paired with a new-generation of ECU and transmission strategy.
From the factory, the LC300 delivers strong performance and improved efficiency over the previous 200 Series; however, like all modern vehicles, it is calibrated conservatively to meet global emissions, durability targets and wide-ranging operating conditions.
At Diesel & Performance Tuning Brisbane, we specialise in reliability-focused ECU and transmission calibration for the LandCruiser 300 Series, targeting smooth torque delivery, reduced turbo surge, improved drivability and confident towing behaviour — not aggressive or unsafe power figures.

Heat Exchanger Upgrade
The factory intercooling system is an advanced water-to-air system with electronic pumps that can struggle to control charge air temperatures under sustained load, partcularly in the Australian summer. This is even more prevelant when the cores are inhibited by accesories or modifications such as porrly placed/poorly desinged lights, bullbars and is further exacerbated at slow road speeds where insufficent airflow is available to cool the cores. Our upgraded supplementary heat exchanger is an additional core, the same used from 600Hp applications which is installed behind the grille, and in front of the radiator and condensor cores. It drastically improves cooling efficiency by up to 30%, and adds 4.5L of additional coolant to the sytem, providing more consistent performance and better temperature control during towing, off-road use, and high ambient conditions. Our unit makes better use of the factor compensations for the temperature points at which the vehicle begins to compensate fuel and boost control for charge air, and coolant temperatures. This is essential for improved heat management on tuned 300 Series Landcruisers, and provides longer, more consistent performance.

Exhaust Upgrade
The factory exhaust system is a very restrictive, press bent, amss-prodiced unit, and increases backpressure once torque is increased. A 3.5" DPF-back exhaust improves exhaust flow, providing more efficient power delivery, or full 3.5" systems from the collector for models that are not equipped with DPF systems from OEM (South Africa, UAE, Saudi, Oman ect). Overall, an exhaust upgrade on the LC300 improves response, sound, and thermal control.

Snorkel Upgrade
A snorkel improves intake airflow while drawing cooler, cleaner air from a higher position. The OEM snorkel head is quite restritive, where a gain of 5kW is common when replacing it, or upgrading the entire snorkel assembly to an upgraded unit to support sharper pedal repsonse, and reliable performance, especially when towing, touring, or operating in dusty or wet conditions, partivclary when completing creek crossings offroad. Supports airflow, engine protection, and provides consistent performance.

TCU Remap
Frustrated with the indecsive shifting, torque converter flare, hunting gears, or turbo surge expecially when towing? Our Landcruiser 300 Series TCU Tuning totally redefines the Aisin 10-speed transmission, addressing all of these issues by custom tuning the calibration to provide smoother, more responsive gear changes, complementing the enhanced performance of a professionally tuned engine. Pairing transmission tuning with our ECU remap is not mandatory, however, is extremely popular especially when towing. For best results, ECU and TCU tuning should be performed together.

More Vehicle Details
Factory Characteristics of the LC300 (F33A-FTV)
In standard form, many LC300 owners notice:
-
Throttle response that feels muted at low RPM
-
Conservative torque delivery in towing scenarios
-
Gearbox behaviour prioritising emissions and efficiency over drivability
-
Power delivery that can feel restrained, or turbo surge under sustained load
These traits are deliberate and protective — but they also mean the LC300 responds extremely well to carefully developed calibration, when approached correctly.
Our LandCruiser 300 Series Tuning Approach
We do not use generic files, plug-in chips or uncontrolled tuning strategies.
Each LC300 is calibrated using a custom ECU tune, developed specifically for:
-
Vehicle year and software version
-
Mileage and mechanical condition
-
Intended use (touring, towing, daily driving)
-
Supporting modifications (where applicable)
Where appropriate, we integrate transmission calibration to better match torque delivery with gearbox behaviour — a critical factor for towing performance and overall drivability in the LC300 platform.
Power & Torque Improvements (Measured, Controlled & Repeatable)
Our LandCruiser 300 Series tuning focuses on:
-
Earlier and smoother torque delivery
-
Improved throttle response and pedal feel
-
More predictable acceleration under load
-
Improved towing behaviour with reduced gear hunting
-
Retained factory safety strategies
We deliberately avoid unsafe increases in cylinder pressure, exhaust gas temperature or drivetrain stress. The goal is controlled performance that complements the LC300’s design, not short-term gains.
Transmission & Towing Behaviour (Key Focus)
For LC300 owners who tow caravans, boats or trailers, transmission behaviour is critical.
Our calibration strategy considers:
-
Shift logic under towing load
-
Torque delivery during gear changes
-
Heat management and driveline smoothness
-
Predictable response on long inclines
Correctly matching engine output to transmission behaviour results in a vehicle that feels more composed, more responsive and less stressed when towing.
Reliability-First Calibration Philosophy
The LC300 is a modern, highly integrated platform. Reliability depends on respecting factory safety systems and control strategies.
Before tuning, we consider:
-
Vehicle condition and service history
-
Cooling system and airflow management
-
Drivetrain suitability for additional torque
-
Intended long-term use of the vehicle
This conservative, engineering-led approach ensures the vehicle remains suitable for remote travel, long-distance touring and heavy towing.
Frequently Asked Questions – LandCruiser 300 Series Tuning
Is ECU tuning safe for the LC300?
Yes — when performed correctly. A conservative ECU calibration improves drivability and towing performance while retaining factory safety strategies.
Will tuning improve towing performance?
Yes. Improved low- and mid-range torque delivery and better transmission behaviour significantly enhance towing confidence and control when overtaking.
Is transmission tuning necessary?
Not always, but it is highly beneficial for towing vehicles and owners seeking smoother, more predictable drivability.
Is ECU tuning better than a tuning chip?
Yes. ECU tuning allows direct control over engine and transmission strategies. Plug-in chips manipulate sensor signals and cannot offer the same level of safety or refinement.
Can the vehicle be returned to stock?
Yes. The original factory calibration can be restored if required.
