KIA STINGER GT 3.3L
Kia Stinger GT Performance Tuning & Upgrades Australia
ECU & TCU Calibration for the Kia Stinger GT 3.3 Twin Turbo | Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast
At Diesel Tuning Brisbane, our Kia Stinger GT performance tuning is engineered for owners who want real, repeatable performance without compromising drivability or reliability.
The GD6P 3.3L Twin-Turbo GDI V6, paired with the A8LR1 / A8TR1 8-speed transmission, is a highly capable platform, but it is conservatively calibrated at the factory for global fuel quality, emissions compliance, and long-term durability. With the correct ECU and TCU calibration and the proper supporting hardware, the Stinger GT becomes sharper, stronger through the mid-range, and far more responsive in everyday driving.

ECU Remap
Our Kia Stinger GT ECU remap is a fully custom engine calibration developed specifically for the GD6P 3.3L Twin-Turbo GDI V6, not a generic flash file or off-the-shelf tune. The factory calibration is conservative, particularly in torque delivery, fuel system utilisation, and throttle response. Our ECU tuning recalibrates boost control strategy, torque modelling, ignition timing, and both low-pressure and high-pressure fuel systems, ensuring stable fuel pressure when paired with the mandatory HPFP upgrade. The result is stronger mid-range torque, sharper throttle response, and smoother, more consistent power delivery, while retaining factory safety strategies and OEM-level drivability. This ECU remap is suitable for stock vehicles and those fitted with supporting upgrades such as intake, exhaust, intercooler, and HPFP. Why This Matters for the Kia Stinger GT: Addresses known factory fuel system and torque control limitations Designed specifically for Australian fuel quality and conditions Ensures repeatable, safe performance — not peak-number chasing Forms the foundation for Stage 1, Stage 2, and Stage 3 packages

TCU Remap
Our Kia Stinger GT TCU remap is a critical upgrade that complements ECU tuning by optimising the A8LR1 / A8TR1 8-speed transmission logic to safely and consistently handle increased torque. The factory transmission calibration prioritises smoothness and protection, often limiting responsiveness once the engine is tuned. Our TCU calibration refines shift strategy, torque reduction during gear changes, clutch pressure control solenoids, clamping pressure on the clutch packs, and gear selection logic across all drive modes. The result is faster, firmer, and more predictable shifts, improved throttle-to-gear response, and a noticeably more connected driving experience. Without TCU tuning, the factory transmission strategy can restrict the full benefit of an ECU-tuned Stinger GT.

Cold Air Intake
A cold air intake upgrade improves airflow efficiency to the turbochargers by reducing intake restriction and stabilising inlet air supply. While gains on a stock vehicle are modest, an intake upgrade becomes increasingly beneficial when paired with ECU tuning, supporting improved throttle response, turbo efficiency, and repeatable performance under load. This upgrade complements tuning packages by helping the engine breathe more efficiently and consistently.

Cat-Back Exhaust
A performance exhaust upgrade for the Kia Stinger GT improves exhaust flow downstream of the turbochargers, enhancing both sound quality and overall efficiency. Designed to reduce restriction while maintaining correct exhaust velocity, a quality exhaust system delivers a deeper, more aggressive exhaust note without excessive drone. While outright power gains are modest on their own, an exhaust upgrade works exceptionally well alongside ECU tuning and intake upgrades, completing the system. This upgrade is ideal for owners seeking improved sound, sharper throttle response, and a more engaging driving experience.

Spark Plug Upgrade
We use and recommend a heat range 9 spark plug upgrade for tuned Kia Stinger GT applications to support increased cylinder pressure and higher boost levels to mitigate falmeout. Upgraded plugs improve ignition stability, combustion consistency, and knock resistance, particularly under sustained load or spirited driving. This is a critical supporting modification for ECU-tuned vehicles, especially when combined with higher boost and torque targets.

- Intake Manifold Gasket
- Thotttle Body Gaskets
- Profesisonal Installation
- Gapped to 0.08-0.075mm pending application and package.
High Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) Upgrade
The HPFP upgrade is a mandatory requirement for all Kia Stinger GT tuning packages. We belive engine safety is not worth the risk of not installing the upgraded pump. The factory high-pressure fuel pump is a known limitation on the 3.3T GDI platform and cannot reliably maintain fuel pressure once boost levels exceed ~18–19 psi. Any ECU tuning beyond this point risks fuel pressure drop, torque intervention, and long-term reliability issues, including dire engine failure due to lean misfire and detonation. Our HPFP upgrade ensures stable rail pressure under load, allowing safe calibration of increased boost and torque levels. This is a non-negotiable component for engine safety on tuned Stinger GTs. We offer 98 pump suited HPFP upgrades which are suitbale for 90% of Stinger GT clientele, but also offer an E85 compatible HPFP with in-line ethanol sensor for extreme conditions, suited to more aggressive igniton and tuning calibraitons.

Intercooler Upgrade
An intercooler upgrade is essential for managing charge air temperatures on tuned Kia Stinger GTs, particularly in the warmer Australian climates. The factory intercooler suffers severley from heat soak due to design inefficinies, particulalry during repeated acceleration or extended high-load driving. An upgraded intercooler drastically improves charge air cooling efficiency, allowing the ECU calibration to maintain consistent ignition timing and boost without thermal intervention. This upgrade is strongly recommended for Stage 2 and inlcuded in our Stage 3 packages. We recommend this upgrade to anyone using their Kia Stinger GT on the circuit.

Transmission (TCU) Calibration – Where the Stinger Really Improves
The Stinger GT’s 8-speed transmission plays a significant role in the car's driving experience. Factory shift logic prioritises smoothness and protection, often at the expense of engagement. Our optional TCU calibration improves:- Shift speed and decisiveness
- Clamping Pressure On Clutch Packs
- Gear selection under load
- Torque reduction during shifts
- Manual mode responsiveness
- Overall drivability in Sport and Performance modes
HPFP Upgrade – Mandatory for Kia Stinger GT Performance Tuning
This is critical — and often overlooked. The factory High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP) on Hyundai/Kia 3.3T platforms is a known limitation once tuning is applied, especially for models from 2019-2023. Even at moderate power increases, the stock HPFP can struggle to maintain rail pressure under load, particularly in the mid-range and under hard acceleration, where the Stinger produces peak torque and power. For this reason, we consider an upgraded HPFP mandatory for any tuned Kia Stinger GT. Without a HPFP upgrade:- Fuel pressure can drop under load
- ECU will intervene with torque reduction
- Long-term reliability is compromised
- Stable fuel pressure is maintained
- Calibration remains consistent and repeatable
- Engine safety margins are preserved
